Land vehicle performance calculator.
MotorSim 2 is a performance calculator for land vehicles (please note that this application is not a driving game; it solely performs physics-based simulations of straight-line acceleration performance).
MotorSim 2 enables you to configure technical specifications and computes the resulting performance metrics. It features an interactive simulator with a speedometer, tachometer, throttle, brake, and gear shift (manual or automatic), accompanied by procedurally generated engine sounds (not sample-based) and a visual representation of the vehicle's position along a quarter-mile track segment. After testing a configuration, users can save a ghost/shadow to later compare its performance against other setups.
Configurable vehicle parameters include:
- Maximum Power
- Customizable power curve (definable point by point)
- Torque curve (since power equals torque multiplied by RPM, defining the power curve automatically determines the torque curve)
- Maximum engine RPM (ignition cutoff)
- Gearbox configuration (up to 10 gears)
- Resistance coefficients (drag coefficient, frontal area, and rolling resistance)
- Vehicle weight
- Tire dimensions
- Shift duration
- Transmission efficiency
Calculated performance metrics include:
- Top speed
- Acceleration times (0-60, 0-100, 0-200, 0-300, etc.)
- Any additional metrics measurable through the interactive simulator
