Remedy Entertainment Unveils Development Updates for Upcoming Titles
Remedy Entertainment recently shared progress updates on its diverse game lineup, including the Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake, Control 2, and Codename Condor, in its latest financial report. The report detailed the advancement of each project and provided insight into Remedy's strategic direction.
Control 2 Reaches Production Readiness
The highly anticipated sequel, Control 2, has achieved a significant milestone: production readiness. This means the game is fully playable, and the development team is now focused on scaling up production, encompassing thorough testing, performance optimization, and quality assurance to ensure it meets the highest standards. Additionally, the Control Ultimate Edition, developed in partnership with Apple, is slated for release on Apple silicon Macs later this year.
Codename Condor in Full Swing
Codename Condor, the multiplayer game set within the Control universe, is currently in full production. The team is actively developing multiple maps and diverse mission types, undergoing both internal and limited external playtesting to refine gameplay and gather valuable feedback. This marks Remedy's first venture into live-service games, and it will launch with a "service-based fixed price" model.
Alan Wake 2 and Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake Updates
Following positive critical reception and player feedback for Alan Wake 2's Night Springs expansion, Remedy confirmed that the game has largely recouped its development and marketing costs. A physical Deluxe Edition is launching October 22nd, with a Collector's Edition to follow in December. Pre-orders are live on the official Alan Wake website.
The Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake, a collaborative project with Rockstar Games, has transitioned from production readiness to full production. The team is focusing on creating a complete, playable experience while emphasizing unique gameplay features to differentiate it from previous iterations.
Future Focus on Control and Alan Wake Franchises
Remedy emphasized its long-term strategy, particularly concerning the Control and Alan Wake franchises. Having acquired full rights to the Control franchise from 505 Games, Remedy now holds complete control over its future development, publishing, and related aspects.
The company is strategically evaluating self-publishing and other business models for both franchises, with further announcements expected by year's end. This includes exploring self-publishing options and potential partnerships to optimize long-term business prospects. Remedy highlighted the importance of growing and expanding these interconnected franchises within the Remedy Connected Universe, alongside their partnership on the Max Payne franchise. Further updates on these projects and their future plans are anticipated throughout the year.
