Bandai Namco's new game, Death Note: Killer Within, is finally here! Discover what makes this game a thrilling twist on the classic Death Note universe.

Death Note: Killer Within: A New Take on Social Deduction

Launching November 5th

Following recent rating leaks in Taiwan, the anticipation is over! *Death Note: Killer Within*, developed by Grounding, Inc. and published by Bandai Namco, arrives on PC, PS4, and PS5 on November 5th, and it's a PlayStation Plus free monthly title!

This online-only game, reminiscent of Among Us, plunges players into the heart of the Death Note saga. Choose your side: become Kira, the enigmatic notebook wielder, or join L's team, determined to stop him. Up to ten players engage in a thrilling game of deception and deduction, mirroring the chaotic tension of the original series. Bandai Namco describes it as a "thrilling game of cat and mouse" where the Death Note itself is hidden among the players, leading to intense moments of suspense and betrayal.

Extensive customization options are available, with players able to unlock seven types of accessories and special effects to enhance their in-game presence. While online-only, voice chat is highly recommended – for strategy, or perhaps just letting out a scream when accusations fly!

Price Point Unknown: A Potential Repeat of Fall Guys' Launch?

PlayStation Plus subscribers get early access, alongside Ghostwire: Tokyo and Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged. PC players can join the fun via Steam, with cross-play ensuring a large, diverse player base.

However, the price remains undisclosed. A high price point could hinder its success, potentially mirroring the initial struggles of Fall Guys. Fall Guys's initial PlayStation Plus release, despite lacking features like leaderboards and ranked modes, maintained a $20 price tag. This led to declining sales, ultimately resulting in its acquisition by Epic Games and transition to a free-to-play model. The success of Death Note: Killer Within will depend on its pricing strategy and ability to stand out in a competitive market.

Gameplay: Action and Accusations

Gameplay unfolds in two phases: the Action Phase and the Meeting Phase. The Action Phase sees players navigating the virtual world, gathering clues, completing tasks, and subtly observing suspicious behavior. Kira secretly uses the Death Note to eliminate NPCs or players.

The Meeting Phase brings the drama to a head. Players discuss their suspicions, vote to expose Kira, and risk wrongly condemning an innocent teammate.

Unlike Among Us, Kira has followers who communicate privately and steal IDs, a vital asset in this game. Investigators, meanwhile, meticulously gather clues to uncover Kira's identity. L's unique abilities include deploying surveillance cameras during the Action Phase and guiding discussions during the Meeting Phase.
