Ubisoft Mainz has offered a deeper look into Anno 1800's successor, Anno 117: Pax Romana, via a new trailer. Previous announcements highlighted Lazio and Albion as explorable regions; however, the trailer suggests Lazio serves as an introductory area before players progress to the main setting in Albion.
Creative Director Manuel Rainer explains that Lazio starts peacefully, but a catastrophic event forces players to seek refuge in the uncharted territories of Britain (Albion). Albion presents a formidable challenge, characterized by harsh weather, hostile tribes, and its geographical distance from Rome, making administration significantly more complex.
Players govern as a Roman official, tasked with conquering these difficulties without relying solely on military might. Diplomacy and respecting local traditions are key elements of success. A notable gameplay feature is the customizable ship design, allowing strategic choices between speed enhancements (via oarsmen) and increased offensive capabilities (through archery turrets).
Anno 117: Pax Romana is scheduled for release in 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
