Assassin's Creed Shadows: A Closer Look at the Release
Mackenyu Arata as Gennojo
Known for his portrayal of Roronoa Zoro in the One Piece live-action series, Mackenyu will provide both the English and Japanese voice for Gennojo in Assassin's Creed Shadows, set in feudal Japan. Ubisoft describes Gennojo as a key character who will aid the protagonist in eliminating a critical target.
Ubisoft further characterizes Gennojo as "a charming, reckless, and deeply conflicted individual, driven by guilt to dismantle a corrupt system. A flirtatious rogue and trickster, he walks a fine line with wit, deceit, and swagger." His strong sense of justice, particularly concerning the vulnerable, fuels his willingness to risk everything for his cause.
While the exact point of Gennojo's appearance in the game remains undisclosed, his importance to the storyline and missions is confirmed. According to Mackenyu, Gennojo belongs to a group known as the "Shinobi League," and players can essentially recruit him as a companion throughout their adventure.
