Avowed: A Single-Player Fantasy Adventure
Avowed has been compared to Skyrim, but its gameplay is more akin to Obsidian's The Outer Worlds—a single-player experience. This begs the question: Does Avowed offer multiplayer capabilities? The short answer is no.
No Multiplayer, Co-op, or PvP
Avowed does not feature any form of multiplayer, be it cooperative play or player-versus-player combat. While you'll encounter companions throughout your journey, these will be non-player characters (NPCs), similar to The Outer Worlds. All enemies are AI-controlled; there's no player invasion mechanic like in Sniper Elite. Obsidian Entertainment has confirmed there are no plans for future multiplayer additions.
The Abandoned Multiplayer Plans
While some may recall Avowed being advertised with co-op features, this isn't a false memory. Obsidian initially planned to include multiplayer, even using it as a selling point for investors. However, during development, this feature was cut, with the studio citing a focus on other aspects of the game.
No Co-op Mod (Yet?)
Currently, there are no publicly known plans for a co-op PC mod for Avowed. While such a mod is theoretically possible, it would be a significant undertaking. Even Skyrim's popular co-op mod arrived years after its release.
In Conclusion
Avowed is a strictly single-player experience. There is no multiplayer, co-op, or PvP functionality, and no plans to add it in the future.
