Bandai Namco has announced the closure of its fortress strategy action RPG, Naruto X Boruto Ninja Voltage. This isn't entirely unexpected, mirroring the fate of other Bandai Namco gacha titles, including the previously shuttered Naruto Blazing.
The news will likely come as no surprise to many long-time players. Similar gacha games have faced similar challenges, often involving issues related to PvP balance and monetization.
Naruto X Boruto Ninja Voltage Shutdown Date
Launched in 2017, Naruto X Boruto Ninja Voltage will officially shut down on December 9th, 2024. Players can continue enjoying the game until then.
Several events are planned before the game's end-of-service (EOS). These include the Village Leader World Championship (October 8th-18th), an All-Out Mission (October 18th-November 1st), and a final "Thanks For Everything" campaign (November 1st-December 1st). Players can still collect Ninja Cards, participate in summoning events, and utilize in-game items until the final day. It's advisable to spend any remaining Gold Coins before the shutdown.
Reasons Behind the Shutdown
While Naruto X Boruto Ninja Voltage enjoyed a strong initial launch, its popularity waned over time. The game initially offered a balanced system, allowing players to build and defend their villages. However, the introduction of Minato Namikaze and subsequent power creep, coupled with increasingly aggressive pay-to-win mechanics and reduced free-to-play rewards, alienated a significant portion of the player base. The decline in multiplayer features further contributed to the game's eventual closure.
The game remains available on the Google Play Store for those wishing to try it before the shutdown. For more gaming news, check out our article on the latest update for Wings of Heroes, featuring the new Squadron Wars feature.
