- The 2025 Polytopia World Championship concluded with over 10,000 participants
- ArthurL248 claimed victory after advancing through an intense six-player grand final
- Midjiwan’s custom spectator mode and strategic esports partnerships signal a bright future for the game
Polytopia’s inaugural World Championship has officially come to a close. If Midjiwan needed confirmation that its minimalist strategy title boasts a competitive ecosystem worthy of investment, this event delivered plenty of evidence.
Over 10,000 players registered for the qualifiers—a studio record—setting the stage after months of tribal clashes, eliminations, and tactical map battles. Ultimately, ArthurL248 was crowned the first-ever Polytopia World Champion.
The path to glory proved surprisingly fierce for a game that appears serene at first glance. The journey began in September with the Battle of the Tribes qualifiers, where competitors vied for supremacy across all 12 tribes.
Six weeks later, top performers from each tribe advanced, narrowing the bracket to six finalists: ArthurL248 (Imperius), slimmingboy (Bardur), Dreamlander3000 (Oumaji), Theetat (Hoodrick), LeLiberateur (Xin-Xi), and Meisterlampe (Luxidoor).
On December 6th, these finalists faced off in a studio environment featuring live commentary and a dedicated spectator mode. Midjiwan designed this tool to allow viewers to monitor cities, technologies, eliminations, score progression, and real-time advantage shifts.
ArthurL248 secured the $4,000 grand prize. The remaining finalists shared the rest of the $10,000 pool: slimmingboy took home $2,000, while Threetat and Meisterlampe each received $1,500. Dreamlander and LeLiberateur rounded out the payouts with $500 apiece. While modest compared to AAA titles, this is a significant achievement for a studio new to major competitive circuits.
The event was organized by Challengermode in collaboration with Black Molly Entertainment, known for hosting the Geoguessr World Cup. Given the enthusiastic response, it is highly likely Polytopia will deepen its esports presence next year.
