Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 receives two highly-anticipated additions this week: the classic "Infected" mode and the iconic Nuketown map. This follows the recent launch and a patch addressing various post-release issues.
Infected and Nuketown Arrive
Treyarch, the developer, confirmed via Twitter (X) that the fan-favorite "Infected" mode launches tomorrow, with Nuketown following on November 1st. Nuketown, originally featured in Call of Duty: Black Ops (2010), is a beloved map set in a 1950s nuclear test site. Activision previously stated that post-launch content additions would be a regular occurrence. Black Ops 6, released October 25th, initially included 11 standard multiplayer modes, plus variations and a Hardcore mode.
Black Ops 6 Update Addresses Numerous Bugs
A recent update tackled several issues across multiplayer and Zombies modes. Team Deathmatch, Control, Search & Destroy, and Gunfight received XP and weapon XP rate increases. Activision stated they are actively monitoring XP rates across all modes. Key fixes include:
- Global: Resolved loadout highlighting, Bailey operator animation, and the "Mute Licensed Music" setting functionality.
- Maps: Addressed exploits allowing players to leave the designated play areas on Babylon, Lowtown, and Red Card. Red Card also received stability improvements. General in-game interaction stability issues were also resolved.
- Multiplayer: Fixed matchmaking issues preventing quick player replacements, prevented private matches from forfeiting with zero players on a team, and addressed a continuous missile sound effect from the Dreadnought.
While some issues, such as player death on loadout selection in Search & Destroy, remain to be addressed, Treyarch and Raven Software are actively working on further patches. Despite these initial hiccups, Black Ops 6 is considered by many to be a top-tier Call of Duty title, particularly praising its enjoyable campaign.
