Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 debuted last year, securing the title of the top-selling game in the U.S. for November based on dollar revenue. That’s a solid performance, isn’t it?
If you’re still considering adding this new release to your library, it is currently priced at just $35 at Amazon and Best Buy for a single day only. This represents a 50% discount on the game, available merely months after its launch across PS5, PS4, and Xbox platforms.
You’ll need to act quickly if you plan to grab this deal, as it will expire by the end of the day on January 9, 2026.

So, what’s the story behind one of the year’s best-selling titles already seeing such steep price cuts? It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that Black Ops 7 isn’t performing as strongly as last year’s Black Ops 6.
This trend is evident across critical review scores, fan reception, European sales data, and even statements from Activision itself.
Typically, the latest Call of Duty title topping annual charts is almost a certainty. However, this year has seen an unexpected shift, with Battlefield 6 poised to claim the number one spot in the U.S. instead.
This isn’t entirely without precedent. In 2023, Hogwarts Legacy outsold Modern Warfare 3, achieving that feat even though MW3 didn’t launch on Game Pass.
Still, Call of Duty rebounded strongly in 2024. Prior to that, only major titles from Rockstar like GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 had managed to dethrone it for the annual top spot, a streak dating back to Rock Band in 2008.
In this light, it’s hardly surprising that Activision is reportedly reconsidering its planning and release strategies for Call of Duty annually. It also explains why aggressive discounts are being offered so soon after one of their biggest releases hit stores.
