A player known as b00lin waged a 763-day legal battle against Activision, ultimately overturning an unfair ban and restoring their Steam reputation. The ordeal began in December 2023 after b00lin played over 36 hours of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 beta. Initially believing the ban stemmed from testing errors, b00lin's appeals were rejected by Activision. Undeterred, b00lin chose to fight back.

Activision refused to provide evidence of cheating, citing security concerns, even when b00lin only requested seemingly innocuous information like the name of the flagged software. The case proceeded to court, where Activision's lawyers failed to present any proof of wrongdoing, highlighting the company's stringent anti-cheat secrecy. The court ruled in b00lin's favor, ordering Activision to cover legal fees and lift the ban, which finally occurred in early 2025.
