Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP's Resurgence: Over 200,000 Copies Sold!
Released late last year, the Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP remaster has reportedly surpassed 200,000 units sold, demonstrating strong player demand despite initial technical hiccups and controversy. This achievement highlights a significant comeback for the action-packed title.
Developed originally by Grasshopper Manufacture (known for the No More Heroes series), Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, however, was remastered by Dragami Games. This new version features enhanced visuals and improved gameplay, attracting both returning fans and new players to the unique hack-and-slash experience. The game casts players as Juliet Starling, a chainsaw-wielding cheerleader battling zombies.
Dragami Games recently announced the impressive sales milestone on Twitter, confirming sales exceeding 200,000 across all platforms, including current and last-gen consoles, and PC.
Celebrating Success: Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP's Sales Triumph
The game's storyline follows Juliet as she uncovers her zombie-hunting heritage amidst a school overrun by the undead. Fast-paced, stylish combat using Juliet's chainsaw is reminiscent of titles like Bayonetta.
While the original 2012 release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 sold over a million copies, RePOP's success is still noteworthy. The original game benefited from the collaboration between Goichi Suda and James Gunn, a combination that clearly resonated with players.
The future of the Lollipop Chainsaw franchise remains uncertain. However, RePOP's strong sales figures are encouraging for remasters of other cult classics. This positive trend is further supported by the recent release of Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered, another Grasshopper Manufacture title receiving a modern update.
