If there's anything you can say about mobile developer AppSir, it's that their games always deliver a unique and engaging experience. Whether it's our glowing review of Spooky Pixel Hero or their other intriguing titles, AppSir consistently hits the mark with distinct indie fun. Their latest release, Climb Knight, is no exception!
You might be thinking, "Didn't you already cover Climb Knight?" Indeed, we did, and we gave it a fairly positive review. Surprisingly, the team at AppSir was genuinely taken aback by the warm reception Climb Knight received. In celebration, they've announced a major new update set to launch on February 25th, and it's completely free!
What can you expect from this update? Three new one-bit minigames and the introduction of a mysterious advisor character, inspired by Apple Newton shareware. Given AppSir's track record with spooky releases, there's likely more to this advisor and the new gameplay than meets the eye.
Climbing up
AppSir proves that a dedicated indie developer can break the mold and find success on mobile platforms. While I wouldn't label them as the "New Blood" of smartphones, their work shares similarities with the excellent Faith trilogy, particularly in the spooky, retro aesthetic of their back catalog.
