Resident Evil's Mikami and Killer7's Suda51 Hint at a Possible Sequel and Remaster
The possibility of a Killer7 sequel and a complete edition has been teased by none other than Shinji Mikami, the creator of Resident Evil, and Goichi "Suda51" Suda, the visionary behind Killer7, during a recent Grasshopper Direct presentation.
The focus was primarily on the upcoming Shadows of the Damned remaster, but the conversation shifted to the future. Mikami openly expressed his desire for a Killer7 sequel, calling the original one of his personal favorites. Suda51, equally enthusiastic, confirmed that a sequel is a possibility, even playfully suggesting titles like "Killer11" or "Killer7: Beyond."
Killer7, a cult classic action-adventure game released in 2005, blends horror, mystery, and Suda51's signature over-the-top style. The game follows Harman Smith, a man capable of controlling seven distinct personalities, each with unique abilities. While a sequel never materialized, even the 2018 PC remaster left Suda51 wanting to revisit his original vision. He proposed a "Complete Edition," an idea Mikami jokingly dismissed as "lame," though the team clarified that this could involve restoring extensive cut dialogue for the character Coyote.
The prospect of either a sequel or a complete edition has generated immense excitement among fans. While no firm commitments were made, the developers' shared enthusiasm has sparked considerable anticipation for the future of Killer7. The ultimate decision, as Suda51 stated, rests on whether "Killer7: Beyond" or the Complete Edition will take priority.
