2025 is shaping up to be a monumental year for DC's Batman. Chip Zdarsky's run concludes with Batman #157, making way for Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee's Hush 2 in March. Following Hush 2, a rebooted Batman #1 will launch with a new writer, artist, and costume.
As announced at ComicsPro, Matt Fraction (Uncanny X-Men, The Invincible Iron Man) will pen the new volume, with Jorge Jimenez continuing as artist. They've created a new, vintage-inspired blue and gray Batsuit and Batmobile. See the new suit below:
DC also revealed updates to their Superman line, continuing their "Summer of Superman" event. Supergirl gets a new series and costume (designed by Stanley "Artgerm" Lau), written and drawn by Sophie Campbell (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles). This series returns Kara to Midvale.
Campbell commented, “I came up doing mostly graphic novels, so this feels like a return to my roots. My influences for Kara were the 70s stories and costumes, the 1984 movie, and the CW show. I’ll draw on those influences as the series unfolds.” Supergirl #1 releases May 14.
Waid explains, "I start with 15-year-old Clark, learning to be a superhero. What's that like? What challenges does he face? Skylar and I are modernizing Smallville—it retains its rustic feel, but farms don't look the same anymore." Their run begins with Action Comics #1087 in June.
Finally, Krypto gets his own five-issue miniseries, Krypto: The Last Dog of Krypton, as part of the DC All In initiative. Written by Ryan North (Fantastic Four) and drawn by Mike Norton (Revival), it delves deeper into Krypto's origin story.
North shared, “Krypto's origin has always been high-level. He starts on Krypton, ends up on Earth, and helps Superman. The chance to define Krypto—showing what a lost dog would experience alone on Earth—was enticing. We treat Krypto as a dog: he doesn't talk, and we don't use thought bubbles. Mike Norton's art captures what needs to be 'said'.” Krypto: The Last Dog of Krypton #1 releases June 18.
ComicsPro also revealed Marvel's summer relaunch of Captain America, written by Zdarsky and drawn by Valerio Schiti. An early look at Godzilla's new interconnected comic universe was also shown.
