Delta Force, previously known as Delta Force: Hawk Ops, is now accepting pre-registrations for iOS and Android devices. This Tencent-developed title, launching late January 2025, aims to revitalize the classic military shooter franchise. It blends various missions and modes, emphasizing tactical gameplay.
For those unfamiliar, Delta Force predates Call of Duty, establishing itself as a cornerstone of the FPS genre. Known for its realistic action, advanced gadgets, and authentic weaponry, the series is based on the US military's elite Delta Force unit.
Tencent's Level Infinite has masterfully reimagined Delta Force. The game features a Warfare mode offering large-scale battles reminiscent of Battlefield, and an Operations mode focusing on extraction-style gameplay. A single-player campaign inspired by the Battle of Mogadishu (and the film Black Hawk Down) is also planned for 2025.
Addressing Cheating Concerns
Despite high anticipation, Delta Force has faced controversy, primarily concerning cheating. Tencent's aggressive anti-cheat measures, implemented via G.T.I. Security, have drawn criticism for their perceived overreach, including restrictions on certain software and hardware for the PC version.
While mobile platforms generally experience less cheating, this controversy might still impact Delta Force's reception. However, the reduced likelihood of cheating on mobile could lead to a more positive player experience.
