After Yasuke hears rumors of "worse men" from his past being active in Japan, players must embark on the Yasuke’s Past quests, which include completing the Templar Hunt Objective Board. Here’s a detailed guide on how to locate and eliminate every Templar target in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, starting with Kimura Kei.
How to Find the Templar Kimura Kei in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Your first clue about Kimura Kei's whereabouts will come from a ronin contact in Kii. You can find this contact in central Nakahechi Route at the inn in Takahara Village. If you need help pinpointing his exact location, utilize Scouts to narrow it down. Look for the building marked with green flags and situated next to a cherry blossom tree. Inside, you'll meet a ronin dressed in Oda Clan attire. Engage him in conversation, and he will direct you to a recruiter named Kumabe Ujiie.
Where to Find Kumabe Ujiie
Kumabe Ujiie is situated in northern Kii, specifically at a cemetery in Koyasan, northeast of Kongobuji Temple. He'll be accompanied by an escort of ronin, but there's no need to engage them. Approach Kumabe Ujiie and select the "I seek guidance" dialogue option. Follow him, and he will eventually disclose Kimura Kei's location.
How and Where to Assassinate Kimura Kei
Kimura Kei’s Training Grounds are located in the southwestern part of Kii, just north of the shore, roughly halfway between Sazae Oni Shores and Nakahechi Route. Once you arrive, follow the other students to reach Kimura Kei. He will recognize Yasuke and order his students to attack.
You'll find yourself surrounded by attacking ronin. After defeating them, more will come your way as you advance toward Kimura Kei. Ensure you're equipped with the highest level armor and weapons available. Exploding red barrels along the path can be used to your advantage; shoot them with your bow or teppo to clear large groups of enemies efficiently.
When you finally confront Kimura Kei, a boss fight ensues that cannot be resolved with a stealth assassination. Equip armor with an engraving that enables you to parry unblockable attacks, as Kimura Kei uses many of them. This fight is multi-phased.
In the first phase, Kimura Kei wields a standard Katana. Parry his attacks to make him vulnerable, then use posture attacks and abilities to break his armor. When his armor is nearly destroyed, he switches to a Long Katana and a standard Katana, increasing the frequency of unblockable attacks. Focus on dodging and striking when possible.
Once Kimura Kei’s health is reduced to about half, the fight moves outside. Here, he unleashes extremely powerful unblockable attacks with both Katanas. Dodge frequently and maintain your distance. Using a bow or teppo to attack from a distance can be highly effective.
Every Reward for Killing Kimura Kei in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Successfully defeating Kimura Kei will reward you with 3,000 XP, some Mon, and the Templar-themed Destroyer Samurai Armor and Helmet. The armor comes with an engraving that reduces the impact from enemy attacks, while the helmet boosts Yasuke’s damage by 10% for every 10% of his health that is missing.
How to Find the Silver Queen in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
After defeating all the Shinbakufu, the Silver Queen, who is aiding the Portuguese in their pillaging of Tamba, will appear on the Templar Board. To reach her, you'll need to talk to several contacts first, starting with a spy.
Where to Find and Talk to The Spy
The spy Yasuke needs to speak with is located in Southeast Tamba in the Silver Lands. Once you reach the investigation area, you'll find him sitting on a rug under a small structure next to a wooden cart and crates. After conversing with him, he will reveal the Silver Queen’s location.
Where to Meet the Silver Queen
The Silver Queen can be found in the town of Tada, just Northeast of Tada Kakurega. She will be engaged in conversation with some Portuguese soldiers. Approach and talk to her, then follow her to her house where you'll have tea. After waking up, you’ll find yourself in Tada Silver Mine.
How to Escape from Tada Silver Mine
Upon waking from the drugged tea, Yasuke finds himself in a locked room within Tada Silver Mine. Sprint into the door to break it open. After dealing with the guards, you can choose to fight or sneak your way out. Sneaking is the most efficient and quickest method. Head Southwest out of Tada Silver Mine, eliminating any enemies in your path and making your escape.
How to Locate Akechi Mitsuyoshi
The Silver Queen requires Yasuke to help her rescue her brother in exchange for information on his true target. After escaping Tada Silver Mine, head north toward Kameyama Castle. If you need to restock on Ammo or Rations, there's a Kakurega just north of Senneji Temple when you enter Kameyama.
Activate Pathfinder and proceed through Kameyama Castle, eliminating any guards in your way. You will encounter a servant bleeding out in the living quarters who will give you a key to the castle’s Tenshu.
How to Free Akechi Mitsuyoshi and Retrieve His Katana
With the key to the castle’s Tenshu in hand, enter the main castle building beneath the Viewpoint and interact with the marked door to reach Akechi Mitsuyoshi. Follow him as he escapes through the castle, using your bow or teppo to take out distant enemies that threaten his safety. Once he's free, return to the castle to retrieve his Katana from Baltazar after defeating him. Baltazar is surrounded by other soldiers, so it's best to take them out first and then face him one-on-one. Utilize abilities and posture attacks to break Baltazar’s guard and deal vulnerable damage swiftly.
After defeating Baltazar and retrieving Akechi Mitsuyoshi’s Katana, head north to Atago Shrine. There, talk to Akechi Mitsuyoshi and follow him to the Shrine to receive the location of your next target.
How to Find and Assassinate Nuno Caro
Yasuke’s ultimate target, Nuno Caro, is preparing to leave Japan. He is located in Western Tamba at Takeda Castle, perched high atop a mountain at the end of a winding road. Use Pathfinder to find the most direct route to your objective.
Takeda Castle is densely populated with enemies and features alarm bells that can alert others to your presence. As stealth may not be the best approach for Yasuke, disable all alarm bells with your bow or teppo when you spot them. As you ascend, you'll eventually reach a set of double doors where you can initiate the encounter with Nuno Caro.
Eliminate Nuno Caro’s men as you climb the castle to pursue him. He is located at the very top of Takeda Castle, where a boss fight will commence. Nuno Caro fights similarly to his soldiers, wielding a sword and a pistol. His primary sword attack is a combo of up to four swipes, which you can block or parry. When you see his pistol glow red, dodge to avoid its shot. Use Abilities to deal high damage and make him vulnerable, then attack in cycles until he is defeated. Once Nuno Caro is eliminated, the Templar Hunt Objective Board will be complete.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is available from March 20th on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
