Divinity: Original Sin 2 - How To Get The Ship Moving

This guide details how to get the Elven ship, Lady Vengeance, sailing in Divinity: Original Sin 2 after escaping Fort Joy. The process involves a puzzle requiring exploration and interaction with various characters and objects.

The ship's control isn't at the helm; you must find and use an Ancient Songbook. This involves exploring, talking to NPCs, and gathering clues.

Investigate Dead Bodies

Begin by searching the bodies of the magisters and ghosts on deck. A Sodden Diary on a corpse provides a password for a stateroom door. A skill check on the northern stateroom door may also reveal this password. You'll also need a Strange Gem, found later. A magic mirror nearby allows respeccing characters.

Find the Portside Stateroom

Use the password (from the diary or skill check) and the Strange Gem (obtained from Bishop Alexander's regalia after interacting with him in the ship's quarters) to unlock the Portside Stateroom door. This leads to Magister Dallis' cabin. The stateroom also contains a hidden hatch with two dangerous ghosts and a Teleportation Prism.

Find the Songbook

In Magister Dallis' cabin, talk to Tarquin and Dallis thoroughly. The Ancient Empire Songbook rests on a pedestal in the cabin. Reading it reveals the song needed to move the ship. It's advisable to speak to all NPCs before setting sail, as this opportunity is lost once the ship departs.

Set Sail

After reading the songbook, speak to Malady on deck. She'll ask you to sing to the ship. Find the dragon figurine on the west side of the deck and use the song. This starts the ship, but be prepared for an immediate ambush from powerful magisters. Ensure your party is well-equipped and has sufficient companions.
