The DOOM community's innovative spirit shines through again! A recent experiment saw NyanSatan successfully running the classic DOOM on Apple's Lightning/HDMI adapter. This adapter, surprisingly, boasts its own iOS-based firmware and a processor clocking up to 168 MHz.
NyanSatan accessed the adapter's firmware, then executed the game, utilizing a MacBook to handle the firmware transfer due to the adapter's lack of internal memory.
Meanwhile, news on an upcoming DOOM iteration reveals a focus on accessibility. DOOM: The Dark Ages will allow players to significantly adjust the game's difficulty. This includes modifying demon aggression, enemy damage, projectile speed, and even the overall game pace and parry timing. Executive producer Marty Stratton emphasizes the game's accessibility, stating the studio aimed to make it enjoyable for a broad audience.
Importantly, Stratton confirmed that prior DOOM experience isn't necessary to understand the narratives of DOOM: The Dark Ages or DOOM: Eternal. The game promises a high degree of customization, exceeding that of previous id Software titles.
