Long-time fans of the Dragon Quest series are well-acquainted with its extensive lineup and spin-offs. Among these, Dragon Quest X, which leans more towards an MMORPG experience, has been somewhat overlooked. Exciting news for Japanese fans, though: the recently released offline version of Dragon Quest X is set to launch on mobile devices in Japan tomorrow, available for both iOS and Android.
As reported by Gematsu, Japanese enthusiasts can now purchase Dragon Quest X Offline, a single-player version of the game, at a discounted price. This offline iteration, which hit consoles and PC back in 2022, diverges from the series' norm by incorporating real-time combat and other MMORPG elements, a departure from the traditional Dragon Quest gameplay. Interestingly, Ubitu had plans to bring Dragon Quest X to mobile as far back as 2013, a move that never came to fruition.
Sadly, fans outside Japan shouldn't hold their breath for an international release just yet. The original Dragon Quest X was exclusive to Japan, and there's currently no news on a global rollout for the offline mobile version. It's a missed opportunity, especially for dedicated fans like myself who have spent countless hours immersed in titles like Sentinels of the Starry Sky and would relish the chance to explore a different facet of the series on mobile.
