Dynasty Warriors 10 Was Canceled

Dynasty Warriors: Origins Rises from the Ashes of a Canceled Predecessor

Omega Force's Dynasty Warriors: Origins, launching January 17, 2025, boasts a thrilling hack-and-slash experience set against the backdrop of China's Three Kingdoms period. However, the game's creation involved a surprising twist: the cancellation of its planned tenth mainline installment.

Technological advancements spurred this pivotal decision. The development team, having initially embarked on Dynasty Warriors 10, recognized the potential unlocked by the PlayStation 5 and similar next-gen consoles. This realization led to a strategic shift, resulting in the birth of Origins.

While Dynasty Warriors 10 was scrapped, its legacy lives on. Elements originally conceived for the canceled title, such as the free-roaming map and a more in-depth exploration of the Three Kingdoms narrative, found their way into Origins. This innovative approach, while challenging, ultimately allowed the developers to create a more modern and strategically engaging gameplay experience. The resulting game retains the series' signature fast-paced combat, but with enhanced features and a compelling narrative arc centered around an amnesiac protagonist. Deluxe Edition players have already experienced this refined gameplay, with the full release eagerly awaited by fans worldwide. The decision to abandon Dynasty Warriors 10 proved to be a crucial step in crafting the best possible Dynasty Warriors experience to date.
