In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, there's no direct sprint button; your character will naturally transition into a sprint after a few steps. While sprinting is a quick way to move, navigating the vast battlefields to reach other officers swiftly is crucial for victory. This is where your trusty steed comes into play, allowing you to traverse the battlefield with ease and even engage in combat from horseback for those preferring a fast-paced hit-and-run style. Let's explore how to acquire your first horse, enhance its abilities, and manage your equine companions.
How To Unlock The First Horse In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Unlocking your first horse in Dynasty Warriors: Origins is straightforward and free. During Chapter 1, after completing the "Test Of Zheng Fei" battle, a merchant will appear on your journey to the Battle Of Guangzong. Head northeast from Wan Castle, and before reaching the camp, you'll find the merchant standing next to his horse. Engage in conversation with him, and he'll generously gift you the horse, which will automatically be equipped.
To summon and mount your horse instantly, press down on the left joystick if you're on a console, or press the V key if you're using a keyboard.
How To Level Up Your Horse In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Your horse in Dynasty Warriors: Origins gains experience points (XP) based on the missions you complete while it's equipped, even if you're not actively using it. Completing main story battles and missions marked with a red diamond and soldier icon will contribute to your horse's XP, whereas Skirmishes won't. The amount of XP your horse earns is influenced by the duration of the battle, how much you ride it, and how often you use it to charge into enemies. As your horse levels up, it will unlock unique buffs at various intervals, which differ from one horse to another.
How To Switch Horses In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Although your first horse is automatically equipped, you'll have the opportunity to acquire and switch to other horses throughout the game. You can manage your horses in the Battle Preparation menu, which is the last option on the left side of the screen. Each horse comes with its own set of perks, and some may be faster or more advantageous than others, so consider switching when you obtain a new one. To acquire new horses, you'll need to maximize the peace level of a region. Once achieved, a new horse will be available as a reward at a nearby waypoint.
