At Miss Mulligatawney's School for Promising Girls, a troubling incident has occurred: a school prefect has been pushed out of a window, and you, Verity Amersham, are the prime suspect. In Expelled!, the newest mystery game from inkle, the creators of Overboard!, you have just one day to clear your name or find another to shoulder the blame.
Set against the backdrop of April 1922, Expelled! immerses you in the life of Verity Amersham, a scholarship student voiced by Amelia Tyler of Baldur’s Gate 3 fame. Verity, who has always strived to keep a low profile, now finds herself in the midst of an attempted murder accusation, where staying out of trouble is no longer an option.
This game transcends simple dialogue choices. Every action you take, every location you visit, and every conversation you engage in shapes the narrative's direction. NPCs within the school roam in real-time, responding to your actions and words. Some may aid you, while others may hinder your progress. The question remains: who can you trust?
Your path to exoneration isn't limited to solving the mystery; you can also choose to lie, mislead, or manipulate your way to safety. Need an alibi? Persuade someone to vouch for you. Desperate times call for desperate measures? Shift the blame onto someone else. The more you bend the rules, the more pathways you unlock.
Each session of Expelled! lasts about 30-45 minutes, yet no two playthroughs will feel the same. Your choices spawn new leads, alternate endings, and uncover hidden secrets scattered throughout the school. Discover the reason behind the locked cellar or why your best friend is keeping secrets. And if you manage to avoid expulsion, you might even ascend to the prestigious rank of Head Girl.
