Final Fantasy 9 25th Anniversary Website Updates
New Character Profiles
Speculation about a Final Fantasy 9 (FF9) remake is reignited as Square Enix enhances its 25th anniversary website. New profiles featuring beloved characters like Zidane, Vivi, Garnet, and Steiner have been added, stirring excitement among fans about a potential FF9 remake.
The launch of FF9's 25th anniversary website earlier this year initially sparked these speculations, which intensified when Square Enix shared a quote from Vivi on Twitter.
The latest update showcases small icons of four main characters. Clicking these icons reveals brief descriptions accompanied by new art from FF9's character designer, Toshiyuki Itahana, who is also known for his work on the Crystal Chronicles and Chocobo spinoff series. These descriptions provide insights into each character's role and aspirations within the story.
While no official confirmation of a remake has been made, the detailed updates to the anniversary website suggest that Square Enix might have something significant in store for FF9. Fans are eagerly awaiting further news on a possible remake.
New Merch Available
Square Enix has also expanded its 25th anniversary merchandise collection for FF9. New items include a replica of Garnet's necklace, Vivi's wearable hat, and an FF9 Acrylic Stand Collection.
Reservations for Garnet's Silver Necklace are now open, with an expected release on November 15. Priced at approximately 38,500 yen ($260), it's a must-have for collectors. Vivi's hat, which you can actually wear, is also available for pre-order and will be released on September 6 for around 17,600 yen ($120).
The FF9 Acrylic Stand Collection features eight unique designs, sold in blind boxes, adding an element of surprise for fans.
With these developments and the new merchandise, the anticipation for an FF9 remake continues to grow. Despite Square Enix's silence on the matter, the community remains hopeful for a revitalized journey through Gaia.
