Eerie Worlds: A Thrilling CCG Featuring Global Folklore Monsters
Rifts are rarely good news in games, but Avid Games embraces the chaos in its highly anticipated CCG, Eerie Worlds, the follow-up to Cards, the Universe and Everything. This time, the focus is on monsters – terrifying creatures emerging from these very rifts.
Avid Games has crafted a visually stunning roster of monsters, each inspired by real-world horrors from diverse mythologies and folklore.
The game boasts an impressive collection of creatures. Encounter Japanese Yokai like Jikininki and Kuchisake, and Slavic monsters such as Vodyanoy and Psoglav. Bigfoot, Mothman, the Nandi Bear, El Chupacabra, and countless others from around the globe populate the game. Each card includes detailed, researched descriptions, adding an educational layer to the gameplay.
Eerie Worlds features four Alliances (Grimbald, Zerrofel, Rivin, and Synnig) and multiple Hordes, creating complex tactical possibilities. Monsters may share some properties but differ in others, ensuring strategic depth.
Your monster collection, the Grimoire, is upgradable by merging duplicate cards. The game launches with 160 base cards, with many more accessible through merging and further additions planned.
Avid Games has confirmed two more Hordes are coming in the next few months, guaranteeing lasting replayability.
Gameplay involves a nine-card deck (eight monsters, one world card) and nine 30-second turns. Strategic decisions around mana usage and synergy exploitation are key.
