Fortnite's Latest Update: A Blast from the Past with Fan-Favorite Items
Fortnite's newest update is a nostalgic trip for players, bringing back beloved items like the Hunting Rifle and Launch Pad. This follows a busy December for Epic Games, filled with new skins and the annual Winterfest event.
Winterfest blankets the island in snow, introducing event quests and new items such as Icy Feet and the Blizzard Grenade. Players can also snag festive rewards from the Cozy Cabin and premium skins featuring Mariah Carey, Santa Dogg, and Santa Shaq. Beyond Winterfest, collaborations with Cyberpunk 2077 and Batman Ninja add even more excitement. But the retro fun doesn't stop there.
A recent hotfix for the OG mode delivers a surprise for longtime fans: the return of the Launch Pad, a Chapter 1, Season 1 classic. This iconic traversal tool, predating vehicles and other mobility options, lets players launch themselves into the air for strategic advantages or quick escapes.
Classic Weapons and Items Return to Fortnite
- Launch Pad
- Hunting Rifle
- Cluster Clinger
The Launch Pad isn't alone in its comeback. The Hunting Rifle (Chapter 3) provides long-range damage, a welcome addition for some players disappointed by the absence of sniper rifles in Chapter 6, Season 1. Chapter 5's Cluster Clingers also reappear, available in both Battle Royale and Zero Build modes.
Fortnite OG's resurgence has been phenomenal, attracting 1.1 million players within the first two hours of its launch. Alongside the mode, an OG Item Shop was introduced, offering classic skins and items for purchase. However, the return of ultra-rare skins like the Renegade Raider and Aerial Assault Trooper hasn't been universally celebrated.
