Finally, after all this time, an Overcooked reality TV show is truly in the works!
The news broke today via Deadline, which confirms the unscripted series is being developed for Netflix by A24. This project marks the studio's first foray into reality television.
Reportedly following a format similar to hits like Naked It! and Floor Is Lava, the show will center on kitchen-based challenges designed to generate the same hilarious pandemonium as the beloved video game. Think attempting to prepare a gourmet meal from the back of two speeding trucks—that sort of delightful madness.
Currently in its early stages, the series is being produced by Gemma Langford, Oli De-Vine, and Phil Duncan, key members of the game's original developer, Ghost Town Games.
Overcooked first debuted in 2016 as a cooperative game for up to four players. The goal is to work together to chop, cook, and serve dishes against the clock, all while navigating increasingly absurd kitchen hazards. It's a brilliantly chaotic and fun experience that earned an 8.4/10 from us in 2017 upon its Nintendo Switch release. The definitive "All You Can Eat" edition, bundling both Overcooked and Overcooked 2 with all downloadable content and online play, launched in 2021.
