Building a thriving farm in Fields of Mistria is an exciting journey, but as your crops and livestock grow, so does the need for more space. Fortunately, the game offers a solution through its Farm Expansion feature, introduced in version 0.13.0. This addition allows you to expand your farm across the river, providing ample room for new structures and crops. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you unlock and build the Farm Expansion.

The Farm Expansion adds a new section of land to your farm, significantly increasing its size. To access it, head to the Carpenter’s Shop located on the Eastern Road, northeast of Mistria’s town center. While you can technically buy the expansion early, it comes with notable progress requirements.
Prerequisites for Farm Expansion
Before purchasing the expansion, you must help the town reach Rank 55 by earning enough Renown points. Additionally, you’ll need to complete the Stone Refinery repair quest, which requires reaching Town Rank 55 as well. Both tasks are interconnected, so focus on progressing in both areas.
Gathering Required Materials
Once you meet the prerequisites, it’s time to gather the necessary resources. The Farm Expansion is one of the largest investments in the game, so brace yourself for a bit of a grind.
1. Tesserae:
You’ll need 40,000 Tesserae to fund the expansion. This takes time to accumulate, so make the most of your daily activities. Focus on gathering, farming, and completing quests. Regularly visit the Mines, fish whenever possible, and turn in new items to the Museum.
2. Refined Stone:
Collecting 50 x Refined Stone is the next challenge. To obtain this, you’ll first need to repair the Stone Refinery, which requires reaching Town Rank 55 and repairing the Inn beforehand. Once repaired, the Refinery will provide the required materials.
3. Hard Wood:
Thankfully, 50 x Hard Wood is relatively easier to gather. Obtain a Copper Axe as soon as possible to harvest Hard Wood from large tree stumps around your farm and beyond. Each stump yields 2 x Hard Wood. Alternatively, you can acquire this resource from Balor’s Cart on certain days or by turning in enough items to the Museum.
Purchasing and Building the Expansion
Once you’ve gathered all the materials and funds, return to the Carpenter’s Shop and select ‘Farm Expansion’ from the main menu. This will display the expansion requirements. After confirming your readiness, purchase the expansion to unlock the new land across the river. A bridge will automatically be constructed to connect both sides.
