Navigating the expansive and often desolate Synthwave landscapes of the Overgrowth in Hyper Light Breaker can be a daunting task. However, the game equips you with a powerful tool right from the start: the Hoverboard. This essential feature not only accelerates your movement across the vast terrain but also adds a dynamic element to your gameplay.
The Hoverboard serves as the primary sprint mechanic in Hyper Light Breaker, allowing you to cover large distances quickly while your Energy depletes slowly. This guide will walk you through how to summon and use your Hoverboard, as well as highlight some of its unique features that enhance your journey through the Overgrowth.
How To Summon A Hoverboard In Hyper Light Breaker
Summoning your Hoverboard in Hyper Light Breaker is straightforward. To start, simply hold down the Dodge input. Your character will dash forward and seamlessly transition onto the Hoverboard as long as you maintain the Dodge input.
Navigating on the Hoverboard is intuitive. By tilting the left analog stick, you can lean the board and turn in the desired direction. The turning radius depends on your speed; at maximum velocity, turns are slower, but at lower speeds, you'll find it easier to maneuver.
To dismount the Hoverboard, release the Dodge input. Additionally, the Hoverboard will automatically disappear if your Energy is depleted while riding.
Keep an eye on your Energy level, displayed next to your Breaker's companion. If it runs low, take a moment to dismount and allow it to recharge, preventing an unexpected dismount.
Hoverboard Movement Tips & Special Uses
While the Hoverboard in Hyper Light Breaker doesn't support tricks or combat, it offers several unique features that enhance your exploration. One standout attribute is its ability to float on water, allowing you to traverse rivers and inlets without interruption. Remember, you must be on the Hoverboard before entering the water; it won't summon if you're already submerged.
The Hoverboard maintains its functionality on water as it does on land, effortlessly gliding across the surface regardless of your entry speed or height.
Another useful feature is the ability to duck and prepare for a jump by holding down the Jump input while on the Hoverboard. Although you can't double-jump, the increased speed can help you leap across wider gaps. Ducking doesn't boost your speed or jump height, but it aids in timing your jumps more precisely, ensuring you can navigate even the trickiest of terrains with ease.
