"Sort Of" A Sex Feature in inZOI
As inZOI gears up for its early access release, the gaming community is eager to know more about its features, particularly those related to sex and nudity. In a recent "Ask Me (almost) Anything" session on inZOI’s official Discord channel, three team leads, with translations provided by Assistant Director Joel Lee, tackled these topics head-on.
The conversation touched on various aspects of realism in the game, from baby care to driving cars. However, the spotlight was firmly on the handling of explicit content. Lee responded, "Our answer is: sort of. There is a feature in the game that you obviously know what's happening; the male Zoi and the female Zoi are together, likely in bed, with the intention of creating babies. How visually apparent is that? That's where you have to go to your imagination. What you're seeing is not what you're seeing; you have to assume that's what's happening. Is that clear enough for everyone? It's there. Sort of. Maybe not to the level that everyone would have been expecting."
While the statement leaves room for interpretation, it confirms that a sex feature will be included in the game, albeit with toned-down visuals to appeal to a broader audience. Given inZOI's focus on realism, fans might anticipate a more grounded representation compared to the more whimsical approach seen in The Sims.
Blurring Effects and inZOI's Art Style
Players also inquired about the peculiar sight of Zois showering with their towels on. The developers explained that pixelated blurring effects, which work well in more cartoonish games like The Sims, clash with inZOI's realistic art style. When applied, these effects seemed more sexually suggestive than intended.
Moreover, during testing, a bug caused Zois to appear fully naked in mirrors without the visual effects, an issue the team quickly addressed to maintain the game's intended visual integrity.
inZOI's Broad Appeal and ESRB Rating
Despite the focus on sex and nudity, inZOI has been rated T for Teen by the ESRB, akin to The Sims 4. This rating reflects the game's aim to be accessible to a wide range of audiences while keeping the content safe for work. Assistant Director Joel Lee emphasized the team's goal, saying, "We wanted to provide a game that was widely available to as many age groups as possible."
The developers have scheduled a live stream showcase for March 19, 2025, at 01:00 UTC on inZOI’s official YouTube and Twitch channels. This event will cover early access pricing, DLC, the game’s developmental roadmap, and further insights into the game.
inZOI's early access phase will begin on Steam on March 28, 2025, with the game also slated for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. While specific release dates for these platforms remain unannounced, you can stay updated through our dedicated inZOI page.
