The lead developers of the highly anticipated life simulation game, inZOI, recently tackled some burning fan questions. One particularly intriguing topic was the depiction of sexual intercourse within the game. The assistant director's response was notably ambiguous, skillfully avoiding the direct mention of "sex." Instead, they hinted that if a male ZOI and a female ZOI were to retreat to bed together, the implication would be that they are engaging in the process of creating children. However, the visual representation of this act would be left largely to the player's imagination.
Perhaps that’s exactly what’s happening, but not at the level everyone expected.
This leaves players uncertain about whether inZOI will follow the censorship route seen in The Sims series or adopt a novel approach altogether.
Another point of curiosity was why ZOIs shower in towels rather than using pixelated censorship. The developers explained that pixelation is more suited to games with a cartoonish aesthetic. In a game striving for realism like inZOI, such blurring can inadvertently come across as overly sexualized. Additionally, they revealed a technical issue: if a naked ZOI with pixelated censorship were to stand in front of a mirror, the censorship would fail to appear in the reflection.
For those seeking clarity, the game's ratings offer some insight. inZOI has been rated ESRB - T (for teens) and is expected to receive a PEGI 12 rating. These ratings align with those assigned to The Sims 4, suggesting a similar level of content appropriateness and censorship.
