In her first interview with Business Insider, J.C. Lee—daughter of Marvel legend Stan Lee—has publicly refuted longstanding claims that she abused her elderly parents, Stan and Joan Lee.
Allegations against J.C. Lee emerged in 2017 after her mother's death, escalating with a 2018 Hollywood Reporter exposé. The report, citing unnamed sources close to the family, accused her of pressuring her parents financially and leveraging control over their assets. It depicted explosive conflicts between J.C. and Stan Lee, describing verbal confrontations and referencing photos of Joan Lee's bruised arm—claims J.C. persistently denies.
Breaking her silence, J.C. Lee now calls these allegations "complete lies." She admits regretting her initial silence, influenced by advisors. "That photo? Absurd. I would never harm them," she told Business Insider.
While acknowledging heated arguments about money, J.C. maintains they never turned physical. "I never laid a hand on my parents," she emphasized.
Stan Lee passed away in 2018 at 95 from heart failure.
The Business Insider interview delves into J.C.'s complex upbringing under her father's shadow, detailing financial struggles, exploitation by associates, isolation, and navigating Stan Lee's legacy.
