What to Expect in Splitgate 2's Open Alpha Test

According to 1047 Games' Lead Writer, Nate Dern (via the PlayStation Blog), the Open Alpha will feature crossplay and a brand-new 24-player mode: Multi-Team Portal Warfare. Three teams of eight will battle it out on Splitgate's largest map yet, experimenting with new weapons, perks, and equipment.

The core gameplay revolves around the series' signature portal mechanics, allowing for creative outplays and trick shots. While new classes (or factions) with unique abilities will be introduced, the beloved portal mechanics remain central. Dern emphasizes that player feedback has heavily influenced the game's development, aiming to deliver a defining FPS experience.

Splitgate 2's Open Alpha launches February 27th on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
