The phenomenal success of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 continues unabated, with the game now reaching an impressive milestone of 2 million copies sold in under two weeks. Developer Warhorse Studios announced this achievement via a tweet, celebrating it as a "triumph" just as they did when the game hit 1 million sales a mere day after its release.
This sequel to the acclaimed medieval Europe action role-playing game, launched on February 4, is available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S. The rapid sales surge demonstrates the high anticipation and positive reception among gamers.
Last week, Embracer, the parent company of Warhorse Studios, revealed that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has been particularly successful on Steam, achieving a peak concurrent player count of over 250,000. This is a significant increase from the first game, which reached a peak of 96,069 concurrent players on Steam seven years ago. Although exact figures for console players are not disclosed by Sony or Microsoft, the total peak concurrent player count across all platforms is likely even higher.
Embracer, through its subsidiary Plaion, praised the game's initial success, noting its strong performance and positive reception from both players and critics. Lars Wingefors, CEO of Embracer, commended the dedication of Warhorse Studios and their publisher, Deep Silver, stating, "It is our strong belief that the game will continue to generate substantial revenues over the coming years, highlighting the exceptional quality, immersion, and appeal of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2."
Wingefors also highlighted Warhorse Studios' robust post-launch roadmap, which includes updates and new content planned for the next 12 months. This roadmap aims to keep the community engaged with a continuously evolving experience. He expressed immense pride in the teams behind the successful launch, noting that the game has significantly outperformed their expectations.
Looking ahead, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's post-launch content includes three expansions slated for 2025. The spring update will bring free enhancements like a Barbers feature for additional customization, a Hardcore Mode, and Horse Racing. Summer will see the release of the first paid content, "Brushes with Death," where protagonist Henry assists an enigmatic artist with a shadowy past. In the autumn, "Legacy of the Forge" will delve into Henry's adoptive father Martin's history. Finally, the winter expansion, "Mysteria Ecclesia," will involve Henry in a covert mission at the Sedlec Monastery, navigating its complex dynamics.
