Warhorse Studios has just rolled out a major free update for Kingdom Come: Deliverance II with version 1.2, bringing exciting new features to the game. This update introduces native mod support via Steam Workshop and a fresh barber shop system, enhancing player customization and engagement.
The integration of Steam Workshop makes modding more accessible than ever, allowing players to browse and install mods directly from within the game. This streamlines the process, eliminating the need for external platforms. However, the effectiveness of this feature hinges on mod creators uploading their content to Steam Workshop. Currently, the selection is modest but includes intriguing options such as:
- Free Saving: This mod replenishes the "Saviour Schnapps" item every time it’s used or lost, enabling unlimited saves.
- Helmet of Henry VIII: Players can don a historically inspired horned helmet.
- Tourist: This mod disables NPC reactions to trespassing, opening up new areas of the game.
- Pebbles the Zebra: Transform your horse into a zebra for a unique visual flair.
While the initial offerings are limited, the modding community is poised for growth. With over a thousand mods already on Nexus Mods, many creators are expected to share their work on both platforms. Although Steam Workshop might not match Nexus Mods in scale, it's likely that popular mods will soon be available.

Alongside mod support, the update introduces a new barber shop system where players can visit NPCs in Rattay and Kuttenberg to change their hairstyle or beard. Each visit to the barber not only offers a style change but also temporarily boosts the protagonist's Charisma stat, enhancing social interactions.
Version 1.2 encompasses far more than these additions, with over a thousand fixes and improvements detailed in the extensive changelog on the game’s official website. Warhorse Studios has refined nearly every aspect of Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, from balancing adjustments and animations to NPC behavior. The crime system, for example, has been fine-tuned for greater accuracy.
Other notable updates include:
- Revised daily schedules for NPCs to create more realistic routines.
- Enhanced horse riding mechanics and horse trading systems.
- Improved character visuals and overall performance, especially in Kuttenberg and during large-scale battles.
Warhorse Studios is set to explore these changes further in a developer livestream next Thursday. The studio's commitment to the game is clear, with three paid DLC expansions planned for release in spring, summer, and winter.
With the addition of Steam Workshop integration, new cosmetic options, and numerous gameplay enhancements, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II continues to offer an increasingly immersive medieval experience.
