Fans of the iconic Legacy of Kain series are in for a treat as Crystal Dynamics, in collaboration with UK-based design studio Lost in Cult and Dutch art dealership Cook and Becker, have unveiled exciting new projects for the franchise. Following the December 2024 release of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered, these developments promise to deepen fans' engagement with the gothic world of Nosgoth.
Lost in Cult and Cook and Becker Announce Legacy of Kain Encyclopedia
The first project, The Book of Nosgoth, is an official encyclopedia that will serve as a comprehensive guide to the rich universe of Nosgoth. Authored by Nic Reuben of Rock Paper Shotgun, this encyclopedia will explore the series' locations, factions, and inhabitants in detail. It will also include a timeline that chronicles the legendary rivalry between Kain and Raziel, central to the Legacy of Kain narrative.
Beyond its lore, The Book of Nosgoth will offer fans a behind-the-scenes look at the development of the Legacy of Kain games. It will feature original concept art, sketches, maps, and exclusive interviews with the developers, providing insights into the creation of all five titles in the series. This encyclopedia is poised to be an essential resource for both newcomers and long-time fans.
An Official Legacy of Kain TTRPG Set to Launch
The second project, Legacy of Kain: Scourge of Sarafan, introduces an atmospheric tabletop role-playing game set during the Sarafan Order’s crusade against vampires in Nosgoth. This TTRPG will use the acclaimed MÖRK BORG ruleset, offering a mechanics-light yet intense gameplay experience. Players will take on the roles of the Sarafan Order's warrior priests, navigating a world filled with vampire hunts and explorations into the spectral realm.
Legacy of Kain: Scourge of Sarafan will feature six playable classes, a variety of unique weapons and spells, and an official bestiary of nocturnal horrors. The game will allow players to explore the vast and unique landscapes of Nosgoth, crafting their own narratives within the established lore of the series.

Both The Book of Nosgoth and Legacy of Kain: Scourge of Sarafan are now available for pre-order on Backerkit. Additionally, a Legacy of Kain Complete Edition bundle, which includes the deluxe editions of both products, is also available for pre-order on the platform.
