Marvel Rivals Announces Balancing Changes in Season 1

Marvel Rivals Season 1: Dracula, Fantastic Four, and Balance Adjustments

NetEase Games has unveiled details for Season 1 of Marvel Rivals, titled "Eternal Night Falls," launching January 10th at 1 AM PST. This season introduces a host of exciting updates, including a new villain and playable characters, map additions, a fresh game mode, and significant balance changes.

Key Features of Season 1:

  • Dracula as the Main Villain: Season 1 will pit players against the iconic vampire lord, Dracula.
  • The Fantastic Four Join the Roster: The entire Fantastic Four—Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman initially, followed by Human Torch and The Thing within six to seven weeks—will be added to the playable character roster.
  • New Maps and Game Mode: Three new maps and a new game mode, "Doom Match," will enhance gameplay variety.
  • Battle Pass with 10 Skins: A battle pass costing 990 Lattice (approximately $10) will reward players with 10 skins, 600 Lattice, and 600 Units upon completion.

Balance Adjustments:

The developer update also highlights significant balance adjustments:

  • Nerfs: Hela and Hawkeye, deemed overpowered in Season 0, will receive nerfs.
  • Buffs: Mobility-focused Vanguards, such as Captain America and Venom, will receive buffs to improve their effectiveness. Wolverine, Storm, and Cloak and Dagger will also receive buffs to encourage diverse team strategies.
  • Jeff the Land Shark Adjustments: Changes will be made to Jeff the Land Shark to better align his early warning indicators with his ultimate ability's hitbox. While his ultimate's power has been a point of discussion, no major changes to its functionality have been announced.
  • Seasonal Bonuses: No information was provided regarding adjustments to the Seasonal Bonus feature.

Season 1 promises a substantial update to Marvel Rivals, addressing player feedback on balance and introducing exciting new content. The addition of Dracula, the Fantastic Four, and the new game mode are expected to significantly impact gameplay and player engagement.
