Marvel Rivals Season 1 Mid-Season Update: No Rank Reset!
A recent announcement from NetEase Games has clarified the much-debated topic of a rank reset in Marvel Rivals Season 1. Initially planned for the mid-season update on February 21st, 2025, the rank reset has been cancelled due to overwhelming negative player feedback.
The developers acknowledged the community's concerns regarding the frequency of rank resets and the resulting pressure on competitive players. In response, they've opted to maintain existing ranks and scores when the second half of Season 1 begins.
Players will retain their earned ranks and scores. To unlock new rewards, including a Gold rank costume and various Crests of Honor (with unique designs for Grandmaster, Celestial, Eternity, and One Above All ranks), players simply need to complete 10 competitive matches and fulfill the relevant conditions by the season's end.
This decision is a positive development for high-ranking players, granting them extended time to compete at the top level. It also showcases NetEase's responsiveness to player feedback, demonstrating a commitment to community engagement.
Season 1 Mid-Season Update Details:
Beyond the cancellation of the rank reset, the mid-season update will introduce two new heroes: The Thing and Human Torch. While specific character balance adjustments (buffs and nerfs) haven't been detailed yet, this addition is expected to significantly impact the game's meta.
Marvel Rivals is currently available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S.
