Marvel SNAP: The Best Moonstone Deck

Author : Evelyn Apr 03,2025

Quick Links

Moonstone is Marvel Snap's latest addition to the Ongoing card family, boasting the ability to mimic the text of your other 1-, 2-, and 3-Cost Ongoing cards in her lane. She's like an upgraded version of Mystique but comes with the challenge of building a deck around her fragile yet potent nature, earning her the moniker "the Glass Cannon of Marvel SNAP."

After extensive testing, I've pinpointed two top-performing decks for Moonstone: Patriot and Tribunal setups. This guide will delve into constructing and optimizing these decks. If you're still undecided about adding Moonstone to your collection, a brief review at the end will help you make that decision.

Moonstone (4–6)

Ongoing: Has the Ongoing effects of your 1, 2, and 3-Cost cards here.

Series: Five (Ultra Rare)

Season: Dark Avengers

Release: January 15, 2025

The Best Deck for Moonstone

Moonstone shines brightest when she supports rather than leads. For a dependable setup, consider integrating her into a Patriot-Ultron deck. The key is to leverage her ability to copy one or two crucial Ongoing effects without over-relying on her.

To build a Moonstone deck with Patriot and Ultron, include these cards: Brood, Mystique, Dazzler, Mockingbird, Ant-Man, Iron Man, Squirrel Girl, Blue Marvel, and Mister Sinister.

Moonstone Deck Synergies

  • Start by setting up the board with Brood, Sinister, or Squirrel Girl for buffs.
  • In one lane, play Patriot, Mystique, and Moonstone, ideally in that order.
  • Finish with Ultron in the final round to fill all locations and maximize buffs.
  • Iron Man, Blue Marvel, and Mockingbird serve as backups to cover any power deficits in one or two lanes.

An Alternative Deck for Moonstone

For an exhilarating experience, pair Moonstone with Onslaught and The Living Tribunal. If you value thrill over reliability, consider using Moonstone as a win condition with these cards: Onslaught, Living Tribunal, Mystique, Magik, Psylocke, Sera, Iron Man, Ravonna Renslayer, Captain America, Howard the Duck, and Iron Lad.

Captain America33
Howard the Duck12
Magik32

Sera54

Here’s the optimal strategy:

  1. Use Psylocke to play Moonstone early.
  2. Play Onslaught, Mystique, and Iron Man in her lane.
  3. In the final round, use The Living Tribunal to distribute Power across all lanes.

In this setup, Psylocke and Sera act as discount providers, enabling early plays of key cards. Magik extends the game for Onslaught and The Living Tribunal plays. Captain America and Iron Lad serve as backups if you don't draw the necessary cards on time.

While many anticipated the Moonstone-Onslaught-Tribunal trio to dominate the meta post-release, few foresaw her vulnerability to Super Skrull in this configuration.

How to Counter Moonstone

Moonstone's Achilles' heel is Super Skrull. Since her debut, players have been incorporating Super Skrull into their decks to counter Moonstone effectively. Enchantress, Rogue, and Echo also serve as potent counters, making her susceptible to shutdowns.

Her main weakness is that she absorbs abilities from cards in her lane. Unless shielded by cards like Invisible Woman, opponents can easily neutralize that lane with Enchantress, Echo, or Rogue, or use Super Skrull in another lane to dismantle your strategy.

Is Moonstone Worth It?

Moonstone is definitely worth your Spotlight Keys for several reasons: 1) Her powerful ability will only grow more valuable with the introduction of more synergistic Ongoing cards; 2) She's part of a Spotlight Cache with two other Series Five cards, reducing the risk of a miss; and 3) She's a nostalgic addition to Marvel Snap, perfect for fans who relish in pulling off high-impact combos. If you're nostalgic for those thrilling board-altering plays, Moonstone is a card you won't want to miss.
