Marvel’s Wolverine: A Tightly Held Secret
Insomniac, while outlining its future plans in an interview with Variety, remained secretive about Marvel’s Wolverine. Co-Head Chad Dezern stated that although a new team is working on "great projects with a really ambitious roadmap," the studio is focused on existing projects and isn't ready to reveal any information on upcoming releases. A 2025 release for Marvel’s Wolverine was neither confirmed nor denied. Dezern simply stated, "As much as we have pent-up excitement, we've got to hold on to it."
Marvel’s Wolverine: Unveiled in 2021
Initially announced during the PlayStation Showcase 2021 with a cinematic teaser trailer, Marvel’s Wolverine is currently in development for PlayStation 5.In a 2023 interview with Kinda Funny, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Creative Director Bryan Intihar confirmed that Wolverine shares the same universe as Spider-Man, stating they are "all in 1048." Despite both games being announced at the same PlayStation Showcase, crossover events or joint teasers have been minimal. The only apparent easter egg to date is a Wolverine-themed suit ("The Best There Is") for Miles Morales in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
A ransomware attack in December 2023 briefly exposed some of Marvel’s Wolverine’s development assets and gameplay footage to the public.
Insomniac Games' Current Projects
As announced at New York Comic-Con 2025, Spider-Man 2 is launching on PC January 30, 2025. Insomniac has confirmed there are "no additional story content planned for Marvel's Spider-Man 2," ending speculation about future DLC. The PC port will, however, include all updates from the PS5 release, such as new suits and New Game+. Both Standard and Digital Deluxe editions will be available, with the latter offering exclusive suits for Peter Parker and Miles Morales.
