Stun the Monster
Ebony Odogaron's speed can be overwhelming, making it a daunting task to keep up with its rapid movements. To counter this, stunning the monster is crucial. You can utilize a nearby Flashfly to temporarily immobilize it. Alternatively, crafting and using Flash Pods can also serve as an effective way to stop Ebony Odogaron in its tracks, giving you a much-needed window to attack.
Bring Teammates
Facing Ebony Odogaron solo can be a daunting task, as you'll find yourself constantly dodging its swift attacks. To ease the burden, consider bringing teammates into the fight. By sending out an SOS signal, you can attract other players to join your battle. If no players respond, NPCs can step in as valuable allies, acting as a buffer between you and the monster. Use them to your advantage by dodging when the monster targets you, allowing it to shift its focus to your companions.
Pull Down Entangled Rocks
During your encounter, you'll notice Entangled Rocks hanging above certain areas. Using your slinger to bring these down can stun Ebony Odogaron for a few precious seconds. This tactic can only be used once per fight, so make it count. Additionally, deploying Pitfall and Shock Traps can provide two more opportunities to immobilize the creature, enhancing your chances of success.
Beware of Dragonblight
Ebony Odogaron can inflict Dragonblight, a status effect that hampers your ability to deal elemental or status damage. While it doesn't cause direct harm, it significantly reduces your effectiveness in combat. To counteract this, carry Nulberries to cure Dragonblight or equip decorations with Level 3 Dragon Resistance or Blight Resistance to mitigate its impact.
Inflict Paralysis
Inflicting Paralysis on Ebony Odogaron is highly recommended. This status effect will temporarily immobilize the monster, giving you a golden opportunity to deal damage. If you can knock it down while it's standing over roots, it may become further entangled, prolonging your window of attack.
Aim for the Head
The head of Ebony Odogaron is its most vulnerable spot, boasting a 3-star weakness. Targeting this area will maximize your damage output, though it also puts you at greater risk of being attacked. If you prefer a safer approach, aim for its forelegs and tail. While these parts are less damaging to hit, you may still be able to break them, weakening the monster further.
