Monster Hunter Wilds’ player numbers have dropped significantly, nearing those of MH World. Discover the reasons behind MH Wilds’ declining player base and details on its upcoming collaboration.
Monster Hunter Wilds’ Player Numbers Plummet
From Over 1 Million to Just 40,000

Monster Hunter Wilds (MH Wilds), a major release this year, became Capcom’s fastest-selling title. Yet, three months post-launch, its concurrent player count has sharply declined.
Monster Hunter YouTuber Zenny noted that MH Wilds’ concurrent players halved since May, approaching the numbers of the older MH World. SteamDB reports MH Wilds’ 24-hour peak at 41,101 players, close to MH World’s 26,479 as of now.
In contrast, MH World’s third month on Steam boasted over 100,000 concurrent players, far exceeding MH Wilds’ roughly 40,000 in its third month. Players point to a lack of endgame content, despite Title Update 1, as a key factor. The upcoming second Title Update this summer could revive interest with new monsters, events, and features.
MH Wilds x Street Fighter Collaboration Hinted
A potential collaboration with Capcom’s Street Fighter could draw players back. On May 19, Monster Hunter’s Twitter (X) shared a paw mark styled in Street Fighter 6’s urban vibe.
While unconfirmed, a crossover isn’t unexpected, given past collaborations like MH World’s Ryu and Sakura armor sets, Hadoken and Shoryuken gesture DLCs, and Handler’s Chun-Li Costume.

This marks MH Wilds’ first collaboration, and fans are eager to see Capcom’s approach. The Monster Hunter series has a history of crossovers, including Devil May Cry and Sonic for MH4, Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem for MH Gen U, and Assassin’s Creed and Megaman for MH World, among others.
With planned updates and events, MH Wilds’ player base is expected to rebound. Monster Hunter Wilds is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Stay updated with our latest article below!
