Mastering the Music Box in Phasmophobia: A Guide to Location, Usage, and Hunt Triggers
Phasmophobia challenges players to identify ghost types and escape with their lives. The game's frequent updates introduce new elements, including the intriguing Music Box. This guide details how to acquire and utilize this valuable tool.
Locating the Music Box
The Music Box, like other cursed items in Phasmophobia, has a 1/7 chance of appearing on any given map. Its spawn is random; luck is the key factor. Only one Music Box can spawn per game. Once located, interact with it to activate its unique properties.
Utilizing the Music Box
The Music Box offers several strategic advantages. Upon activation, it plays a melody. A ghost within 20 meters will "sing along," revealing its proximity. If the ghost is within 5 meters, it will approach the Box. You can strategically place the activated Music Box on the ground to lure the ghost. The Music Box automatically stops playing after the song concludes. Note that holding the activated Music Box depletes your sanity.
Triggering Hunts with the Music Box
The Music Box can initiate either a cursed or standard hunt, depending on these conditions:
- Throwing the active Music Box (not placing it down).
- Reaching 0% sanity while holding the active Music Box.
- The ghost approaching the Music Box for over 5 seconds.
- The ghost's proximity to the player holding the active Music Box.
Strategic Gameplay
For optimal effectiveness, consider using the Music Box in conjunction with other tools, such as Smudge Sticks. This allows for ghost identification or objective completion while mitigating the risk of a hunt.
