Nintendo Today is a new application directly from the creators of Super Mario Bros., designed to deliver Nintendo news to fans more immediately than ever.
Shigeru Miyamoto, a legendary figure in video games, revealed the company's latest news initiative as a surprise announcement at the end of today's March 2025 Nintendo Direct. This all-in-one mobile app is available now on the Apple App Store and Google Play, offering several benefits dedicated Nintendo fans will want to know about.
This central hub for everything Nintendo functions as both a daily calendar and a news source, delivering information straight to players as it unfolds. Miyamoto illustrated that after the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct airs next week, fans can open the Nintendo Today app to get all the latest updates, with additional news arriving "daily" from that point forward.
The approach is more direct than a typical Nintendo Direct and motivates fans to stay informed, even when major announcements aren't happening. Over time, you'll encounter characters from Mario, Pikmin, Animal Crossing, and other series greeting you each new day. The feed will be updated not just with news but also with Nintendo-themed content. Highlights featured in the Nintendo Direct included a Pikmin 4 comic titled "Too Stuck to Pluck" and "Pearls of Wisdom" from Pascal, the otter from Animal Crossing who enjoys clams.
While Nintendo Today may not be the Zelda or Super Smash Bros. revelation many fans were hoping would conclude today's Direct, it does offer another way for enthusiasts to stay connected.
