The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered breathes new life into one of Bethesda's landmark titles, enhancing visuals, gameplay mechanics, and more. Yet, amidst all these updates, the team at Virtuos made a deliberate choice to retain one of the original game's most iconic moments.
Long-time fans of the Elder Scrolls series will fondly remember Master Speechcraft trainer Tandilwe, the High Elf found in the Temple of the One in the Imperial City. When Oblivion first hit the shelves for PC and Xbox 360 over 19 years ago, it became evident that Tandilwe herself could benefit from some speech training. One of her voice lines, famously believed to be a recording of actress Linda Kenyon's second attempt at a line, was inadvertently included in the game.

As players embarked on their journey through a revitalized Cyrodiil yesterday, many were eager to see how faithful the ground-up remaster truly was. While environments, character models, and items have been beautifully updated, fans have been delighted to discover that many of the quirks that made the original 2006 Oblivion so endearing have been preserved. Tandilwe’s infamous blooper, cherished for its humor, has returned in all its glory, complete with its original lack of subtitles.

In a 2019 interview with YouTube channel Jake 'The Voice' Parr, Linda Kenyon addressed the Oblivion blooper that had become an internet sensation, humorously stating, "It wasn't my fault!"
As thousands of players dive into Oblivion Remastered, debates swirl about whether the Bethesda re-release leans more towards a remake than a remaster. However, many are simply thrilled to find that much of the original game's charm and quirks remain largely untouched. Bethesda and Virtuos were committed to preserving these elements, a decision that appears to resonate well with both new and veteran players alike.
