Paradox Interactive has unveiled its next grand strategy game, Europa Universalis 5, following a tantalizing tease last week. The publisher, renowned for titles like Cities: Skylines, Crusader Kings, and Stellaris, has given fans a first look with a captivating cinematic trailer. Developed by Paradox Tinto in Barcelona, Spain, the same team that has been enhancing Europa Universalis 4, the game is set to be a monumental addition to the series. While an official release date remains under wraps, eager fans can already visit the Europa Universalis 5 Steam page.
"Challenge your strategic skills over 500 years of history, in Europa Universalis 5, the latest version of the celebrated grand strategy game," Paradox states. "Master the arts of war, trade, diplomacy, and government in the largest and most detailed Europa Universalis game ever. Guide the destiny of any of hundreds of nations and societies in a simulated living world of unparalleled depth and complexity."
Europa Universalis 5 has been in development for over five years, with Paradox Tinto focusing on creating an experience tailored for the devoted Paradox fanbase. The team has incorporated over a year of public feedback, emphasizing that this input has been crucial in crafting "the largest and most detailed Europa Universalis game ever made."The game's campaign kicks off at the start of the Hundred Years' War in 1337, guiding players through pivotal historical moments. Players will benefit from an array of new features, including an expansive new map with accurate projection, and a population-based system. Upgraded production and trade systems allow players to build farms, plantations, and factories or engage in trade with neighboring regions, all aimed at providing a strategy experience where players can build and manage their nation as they see fit. Despite the project being shrouded in mystery and labeled "ambitious" last week, fans had already pieced together what was coming.
