Path of Exile 2: Ritual Guide – Passives, Tributes, And Favours

Author : Skylar Jan 22,2025

Path of Exile 2's Atlas offers four major endgame encounters: Breaches, Expeditions, Delirium, and Rituals. Rituals, a revamped mechanic from previous PoE leagues, are detailed below.

This guide covers initiating Ritual events, key mechanics, the Ritual Passive Skill Tree, the Pinnacle boss ("King in the Mists"), and the unique Tribute and Favour reward system.

PoE 2 Rituals & Altars

Atlas map nodes hosting guaranteed endgame events are marked with specific icons. Ritual Altars are indicated by a red pentagram icon with a demonic face. A Ritual Precursor Tablet, inserted into a completed Lost Tower, guarantees a Ritual encounter on a selected node.

Maps with Rituals contain several Altars. Each map features a shared random modifier affecting enemy types or mechanics. For instance, one Altar might summon hordes of rats, while another might unleash damaging pools of blood.

Examine an Altar's modifiers before interacting. Activating an Altar triggers a large enemy wave within a designated zone. Leaving this zone prematurely ends the event without rewards. Successfully completing all Rituals on a map marks it as complete.

Ritual Pinnacle Boss: The King in the Mists

The "An Audience With The King" currency item, obtained through Favours, unlocks a fight against the King in the Mists, located in The Crux Of Nothingness. His mechanics mirror his Act 1 Cruel difficulty counterpart (Freythorn zone). Defeating him awards two Ritual Passive Skill points, a chance at unique items, powerful currencies, and Omen items.

Ritual Passive Skill Tree

The Ritual Passive Skill Tree, accessible via the Atlas Passive Skill Tree (bottom right), modifies Ritual events. Nodes reduce Tribute requirements, improve rewards, and boost unique currency drop rates. The tree has a red, five-pronged design with eight Notable nodes and eight nodes increasing King in the Mists difficulty. Each Notable node requires defeating the King in the Mists at an increased difficulty.

Notable Ritual Passive Effect Requirements
Promised Devotion Ritual Altar skills deal 25% increased Damage. Deferring Favours requires 50% less Tribute, appearing 50% sooner N/A
From The Mists Rituals contain 2 extra enemy packs N/A
Reinvigorated Sacrifices Revived monsters gain 20% Toughness and deal 10% more damage, but no longer penalize Tribute. From The Mists
Spreading Darkness Maps always contain 4 Ritual Altars N/A
Between Two Worlds Rituals always contain a Wildwood Wisp (increased Tribute earned) Spreading Darkness
Ominous Portents Monster waves spawn 25% faster, but Favours have a 50% higher chance to contain an Omen N/A
He Approaches Revived monsters have a 20% chance to be Magic or Rare. 50% chance for "An Audience With The King" Ominous Portents
Tempting Offers Re-roll Favours an extra time at 25% reduced Tribute cost N/A

Prioritize "From The Mists," "Spreading Darkness," and "Ominous Portents" for increased rewards with minimal drawbacks. Then, focus on "Tempting Offers" and "He Approaches" for better Omen and "An Audience With The King" chances.

PoE 2 Ritual Event Rewards

Completed Rituals award Tribute, used to purchase Favours (randomized items). More Altars completed increase Tribute and unlock more Favours, ranging from Magic items and low-level currencies to Rare gear and high-tier currencies. "An Audience With The King" is exclusively obtained through Favours.

Omens, exceptionally powerful items, enhance other currency items. Examples include Omens of Annulment and Alchemy, altering the effects of their respective orbs. Omens are highly sought after and valuable for crafting or trading.

Ritual enemies also drop high-tier currencies (Exalted Orbs, Vaal Orbs, etc.). The King in the Mists has a chance to drop unique items exclusive to the Ritual event.

All PoE 2 Omen Currencies:

Omen of Sinistral Alchemy, Omen of Dextral Alchemy, Omen of Sinistral Coronation, Omen of Dextral Coronation, Omen of Refreshment, Omen of Resurgence, Omen of Corruption, Omen of Amelioration, Omen of Sinistral Exaltation, Omen of Dextral Exaltation, Omen of Greater Annulment, Omen of Whittling, Omen of Sinistral Erasure, Omen of Dextral Erasure, Omen of Sinistral Annulment, Omen of Dextral Annulment, Omen of Greater Exaltation
