Finnish game developer Supercell has made a surprising announcement: their RPG, Clash Heroes, is officially cancelled, but its core concept is being reborn as Project R.I.S.E.
The Full Story
Following the cancellation of Clash Heroes (mirroring the fate of Clash Mini), Supercell revealed Project R.I.S.E., a social action RPG roguelite set within the familiar Clash universe.
In a recent announcement video, game lead Julien Le Cadre confirmed Clash Heroes' demise, but emphasized that Project R.I.S.E. is a multiplayer-focused action RPG. The video provides further details.
Project R.I.S.E. shares some DNA with Clash Heroes but is a completely new game. It's a social action RPG roguelite where players team up in groups of three to conquer The Tower. Each playthrough explores a different floor, with the objective being to ascend as high as possible. Unlike its predecessor's PvE focus, Project R.I.S.E. prioritizes cooperative gameplay with a diverse roster of characters.
Currently in pre-alpha, Supercell plans the first playtest for early July 2024. Registration is open on the official website for those hoping to participate.
