Among the most eagerly awaited game releases I covered last year, one that stands out is the upcoming Pirates Outlaws 2: Heritage. The original Pirates Outlaws was a stylish, swashbuckling roguelike deckbuilder that captured the hearts of players when the genre was still relatively fresh. Now, its sequel is set to launch in Q3 of this year, promising an even more thrilling adventure on the high seas.
Pirates Outlaws 2: Heritage takes you back to the vibrant world of New Elysia, where you'll embark on another swashbuckling journey across the ocean waves. Start your voyage by selecting a character, choosing a class ability, and crafting your initial deck. This seaquel offers a rich variety of gameplay options, allowing you to pick from multiple characters, each with seven class options. You can customize your deck and even recruit an animal companion to enhance the strategic depth of your battles.
The game introduces enhanced turn-based combat and a new card evolution tree, providing you with an array of powerful tools to conquer the sea. Pirates Outlaws 2 promises to be a significantly expanded sequel, offering the freedom to roam back and forth across the map and explore numerous permutations and combinations of cards and characters.
Run out the guns
For those eager to get their hands on Pirates Outlaws 2, a Steam demo will be available for PC players, providing the first opportunity to dive into the game. However, I have a slight concern about the animations shown in the reveal trailer, which appear somewhat static. While fully animating these illustrations can be challenging, I'm hopeful that the final release will feature more dynamic effects when it arrives on mobile later this year.
