Pokémon TCG Pocket Unveils Trading Feature and Space-Time Smackdown

Author : Zoe Apr 25,2025

As January draws to a close and the year ahead unfolds, fans of Pokémon TCG Pocket have a double reason to celebrate. The much-anticipated trading feature has finally debuted, accompanied by the exciting new expansion, Space-Time Smackdown!

So, how does trading work? It's straightforward: you can now trade cards with your friends just as you would in real life. However, there are some limitations to keep in mind. Only cards of certain rarities (1-4 and 1-star) are eligible for trading, and you'll need resources like trade hourglasses and trade tokens to make a swap. Despite these caveats, it's a significant addition to the game.

But that's not all! Alongside the trading feature, the Space-Time Smackdown expansion has launched, introducing iconic legendary Pokémon Dialga and Palkia to TCG Pocket. You'll also find the Sinnoh region starters Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup, along with a host of other exciting cards!

However, not everyone is thrilled about the new trading feature. There's been a somewhat frosty reception, which doesn't surprise me. While I believe the feature is a valuable addition, the numerous restrictions can be a significant drawback. I think Pokémon TCG Pocket might have been better off either not implementing trading at all or making it as unrestricted as possible. Fortunately, there's talk that the developers are monitoring the feature's reception, so we might see changes soon.
